About the department
The word Pharmacology is all about “finding out how drugs work”. The use of drugs is the cardinal way of fighting against life threatening diseases and disorders such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, pulmonary diseases and neuro degenerative disorders. Growing the complexity of diseases has stimulated the interest to study the pharmacology subject. Pharmacology department at VIPER is well established with modern equipments for research activities (including Coralyzer, Mircotome, Sterotaxi Instrument, Auto analyzer, Micro-Drill). The department has highly qualified and knowledgeable faculty members teaching the pharmacology and its related subjects to more than 200 undergraduate students.
Facilities
The air conditioned animal house has been maintained and is being monitored regularly in our College. The Animal House Facility was established as per the rule of the CPCSEA, Govt. of India, New Delhi and we procure animals from the CPCSEA approved vendors
Instrumentation facility
To carry out in vivo Pharmacological and Toxicological studies, we sustain the facility includes Rotarod, Actophotometer, Elevated plus Maze, Eddy’s hot plate, Morris Water Maze and Plethysmometer for behavioral studies. Basic equipments such as Deep freezer, Microscope, Centrifuge, Cook’s pole climbing apparatus are also available
Research activities
Research is one of the main activity of our institute, pharmacology department possess a state of the art research facilities in the area of cognitive science. The research laboratory is equipped with sophisticated equipments enabling to carry out the research activities in the area of Alzheimer’s disease.
